Impact Stories
Community Kitchen Gardens in UP and MP
We expanded Community Kitchen Gardens (CKG) in Madhogarh and other villages in the vicinity of Hatta block Bundelkhand, Jhansi, as we rolled out Phase 4 in 2022 with our partner Parmarth. The project extended to start 20 new Kitchen Gardens and support maintenance of 25 existing Kitchen Gardens. As we progressed setting up new CKGs, heavy monsoon rain damaged crops and the land due to floods. SIF supported beneficiaries with packaged food, groceries and extended full help to address the issues at ground level.
SIF supported wire fencing and maintenance of existing CKGs, conducted 5 Shram daan shibirs and field visits. We also provided micronutrient support to 16 CKGs and conducted Self Help Group meetings, encouraged women farmers to join Poshan Shaheli group to get training on sustainable livelihood, farming techniques, organic pesticides preparations, micro irrigation etc. Horticulture experts’ visits were conducted in the area to address farming issues, plant health and treatment.
